Water Management interventions are part of the projects through which RFI aims to solve critical issues related to the water and sewage systems under its responsibility, present on the railway assets located throughout the Country.
One of these, designed by Italferr, is 'Water management, water compliance and fire prevention', for treatment of water from washing vehicles and its reuse in new washing activities in the Officina Nazionale Attività Industriali (ONAI) in Carini.
Within the framework of the ONAI in Carini, the Company plans to implement:
- A washing slab equipped with an inspection pit and covered by a steel structure;
- Two equalisation tanks for accumulation of wastewater from washing vehicles;
- Relocation of the the treatment plant for vehicle washing water and treated water reuse, for new washing activities, to reduce water consumption;
- First rainwater collection and conveyance system, to reuse purified water in the rainwater network;
- Electrical installations for the washing slab, treatment plant and first rainwater plant, and the supply of electricity for a prefabricated office cubicle.
