Infrarail was established in 2019, and it has achieved its objectives right from the outset, by ensuring the conditions to restart the Florence High Speed Node construction project, while completing all the tasks entrusted by RFI. 

The company was incorporated in 2019 under the name 'Infrarail Firenze Srl'. Its main goal was to reactivate the construction of the Florence High-Speed Node, by acquiring the business units from Ergon and Nodavia, and carrying out the engineering services and activities necessary to guarantee the safety of the construction site. From the outset, the company was scheduled to evolve into an enterprise with the requisites and organisation necessary to be a recipient of public works contracts from RFI, including some of the jobs being re-tendered in connection with the work on the Florence rail link.

Consistently with this approach, the scope of application included in the corporate purpose was subsequently extended to include activities aimed at the completion of the Florence HS Rail Link and the New Belfiore HS Station.

In particular, with regard to the Florence High-Speed Link, RFI decided to award the construction works directly through a public tender, following the original strategic design aimed at having its own railway construction company.
